We are getting married
In June 2027 we are heading south. Not for a single evening, but for three days among the vineyards of Catalonia, with the people who mean the most to us.
This page gathers everything you need to know. It grows along with the planning, so do come back every now and then.
The venue
Masia Cabellut
A masia is an old Catalan farmhouse — the kind of building that has stood so long the landscape seems to have grown around it. This one was built in 1745 by Josep Bondo de la Bisbal del Penedès and has since been restored to its original state.
It sits by the village of Masllorenç, in a valley on the border of two wine regions: Penedès and Tarragona. Around it: vineyards, olive and almond trees, and three thousand square metres of garden full of thyme, lavender and rosemary. The sea is twenty kilometres away.
This is where we marry, where we eat, and where we linger long into the night.

Subject to changeWe open the three days in the late afternoon, with a white party by the pool at the masia. We will let you know the exact time.

Activities & free time
Subject to changeThe morning is yours. From midday we plan an activity or two, and by late afternoon the day is wide open again: rest a little, head out as a couple, form little groups, find a good restaurant. Do whatever you feel like — so you are in full form on Wednesday.

The day it is all about. The ceremony during the day, the party in the evening.

Departure
Nothing at all is planned. You do not need to drop by to say goodbye either — the night before leaves plenty of room for that. Leave whenever it suits you.
Staying
Where you sleep
Everyone arranges their own stay, to their own taste and budget. Below is what we think is worth it, so you do not have to start from scratch.
The first two are a quarter of an hour from the masia. Beyond those, it is a choice between the wine country around Vilafranca and the beaches of the Costa Daurada. And if you would rather have a proper town by the sea — old centre, terraces, restaurants — Sitges is worth the forty-minute drive. Book whatever appeals, and do tell us if you find something lovely that is not on the list.
The masia itself sleeps 7 couples, ourselves included. Those rooms are reserved for the wedding party; we let those guests know personally.

Sitges and Tarragona offer far more than this list, from large hotels to Airbnb apartments, at every price. If you are after something specific — closer, cheaper, room for a group — say the word and we will help you look.

Travel
Getting there
The masia sits near Masllorenç, a good fifty kilometres south of Barcelona.
By plane
Two airports work. Barcelona (BCN) is the largest, with the widest choice of direct flights from Belgium; from there it is just under an hour by car. Reus (REU) is a good deal closer — about half an hour — and there is a direct flight to it from Charleroi. Fewer departure times to pick from, but well worth comparing. Either way, pick up a rental car while you are at it: the estate is out in the countryside, and the days around the wedding are far more pleasant with one.
By car
A good twelve hours from Belgium — enough to make something of it. The whole drive runs through France, so you can stop wherever you like: a night in Burgundy, a detour through Lyon, the Ardèche. And if you want to tack a week of holiday onto the trip, Provence and the French Mediterranean are right there on the way.

Questions
Good to know
- Do I have to stay all three days?
- Yes, that is what we are counting on. The white party, the day in between and the wedding day form one whole, and the point is to spend real time with you rather than see each other briefly on a single evening. If being there for all of it truly is not possible, let us know when you RSVP — we will work out together what does.
- How many people are you expecting?
- Around forty to forty-five, if everyone says yes. Small enough to actually talk to everybody.
- Is there a civil ceremony as well?
- Yes, the legal side is taken care of in Ghent. There is a reception attached to it with a wider circle of people, and you are of course welcome there too — but that day stands entirely apart from Spain, and a separate invitation will follow. The ceremony that matters to us is the one at the masia.
- By when should we let you know?
- By 31 January 2027, please. That way we know in good time how many of us there will be.
- How do I get from my hotel to the masia?
- During the day you drive yourself — which is exactly why we suggest renting a car. For the party evenings we are looking into shuttles, and for the wedding day itself there will be transport regardless. How many runs and from where depends on where everyone ends up booking, so that will follow later.
- Are children or pets welcome?
- Not this time — we are keeping it to adults, and pets stay home. We realise that makes it a puzzle for some; do let us know if it is difficult.
